Food Allergens and the importance of communication | Harrison Catering
- Food
It is estimated that between 1% and 2% of the adult population and between 5% and 8% of children in the UK have a food allergy.
We have all seen reported in the media, some tragic cases concerning members of the public who have suffered extreme adverse events after consuming certain foods when eating out.The Food Information Regulations Act 2014 states that accurate information about the fourteen common food allergens must be made available when requested. It also dictates that accurate records must be kept of all ingredients used in all dishes and all food items that have been prepared in the kitchens. As a fresh food company, Harrison uses a high proportion of fresh, unprocessed ingredients to produce its dishes at each location.
As well as conforming to the regulations, Harrison ensures that its staff are well informed of its procedures with additional measures in place for younger customers and their parents.
For Harrison, face to face communication is encouraged at each location so that the customer has the facts to make their meal choice.
Harrison will continue to take every precaution possible to ensure customer safety.
