Geoffrey Harrison wins FSM Lifetime Achievement Award 2019

We are delighted to announce that Geoffrey Harrison, Chairman of Harrison Catering Services has been awarded the Food Service Management (FSM) Lifetime Achievement Award 2019. This is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the contract catering Industry.

Geoffrey founded Harrison Catering Services in 1994 on a simple principle: to provide customers home-cooked fresh food made on site using quality ingredients.  His vision was revolutionary at the time and his appetite for providing great food and excellent service remains today.

As a family organisation Geoffrey recognises the importance of giving something back to the community and is committed to helping people and encouraging them into the hospitality industry.

In 2011, The Geoffrey Harrison Foundation was founded to advance education and learning in the United Kingdom in connection with the hotel, restaurant and hospitality industries and to help young people to develop their capabilities and grow to maturity as individuals and as members of society.The Foundation contributes to Junior Chefs Academies, part time taster courses aimed at Year 10 and 11 students for those interested in a career in the hospitality industry. They have been an overwhelming success with the majority of students participating going on to pursue a full-time course for a career in the hospitality industry.

Geoffrey has ensured that Harrison is inclusive and that there are opportunities for young and disadvantaged people to gain work experience and permanent employment opportunities with the organisation. Relationships have been established with charities and organisations to ensure people are given opportunities to be the best that they can be.

Harrison recognises the importance of education around healthy eating which is demonstrated by the company’s embrace of the Chefs Adopt a School programme. In 2013 Harrison became a keen supporter of the initiative by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts that teaches young children about food, food provenance, healthy eating and nutrition. Harrison chefs have been specially trained to deliver sessions to schools to benefit children and their families.
