Ready to Feed More Children Free School Meals
- Responsibility
We at Harrison were delighted to hear the announcement from Nick Clegg that from September 2014, all children in the first three years of maintained primary education (ages 5-7 years) will be offered free school meals.
Establishing patterns of varied and healthy eating during the early school years is the best way to ensure that young children take these habits with them through childhood and into their teenage years. This Government initiative will not only help children learn about healthy food early on, but hopefully will ensure that all children, irrespective of background, will receive one nutritious meal each school day that will positively influence both their physical and mental health and well-being.
Providing children with great-tasting, nutritious meals, prepared from fresh ingredients cooked on-site, is what we do best at Harrison – it’s what we’ve been doing since 1994 – and we will look forward to being able to feed many more children every day in the future thanks to this important initiative.
