Chinese-Style Spiced Chicken Wings with Sticky Plum Sauce

This quick, flavour-packed spicy chicken dish is perfect for sharing or as an alternative to takeout.

Method

  • Step 1

    Make the marinade – add the soy sauce, Chinese five spice, garlic, honey, plums, vinegar and 3 tbs of water into a blender and blitz for 1 minute.

  • Step 2

    Place the marinade into a bowl and mix with the chicken wings, sliced red chilli and grated ginger. Allow to marinate in the fridge for 2 hours.

  • Step 3

    Place the coated chicken wings into a roasting tray, along with any remaining marinade and roast for 35-40 minutes at 180°C until the chicken is cooked thoroughly. Turn the chicken a few times, whilst cooking, to get evenly coated and sticky.

  • Step 4

    Once cooked, take out of the oven and sprinkle over the sliced spring onions.

  • Step 5

    Serve with lime wedges.
